Julie Smathers, founder of Tie the Knot, has traveled the world designing weddings and corporate events. She started in Los Angeles designing events for fashion designers, magazine publications, musicians and major corporations such as Sony. Although she enjoyed the corporate planning dynamic, she decided to explore a more personal approach to event planning in the wedding industry.

She pursued the wedding consulting business in Northern California as well as New Mexico before settling down in her native Dallas, Texas. Here, she has established 'Tie the Knot', Dallas' newest and most exciting wedding consulting business.
